Under the training and tutelage of the legendary Phillip Smart founder of "HC&F recording studio, Hackett learned live drum recording techniques. This included drum tuning and microphone positioning . We often experimented with various microphones and drum heads to achieve the best quality sound. Eventually this phased into drum machine programming and recording . Roland 808, Linn Drum, SP1200, Akai -MPC 60/3000/4000/5000 Drum Machines all played a part in sculpting the sound of Reggae out of New York. . We also incorporated the Simmons electronic drum kit into our sound during the eighties and nineties . I produced my first record at 18 years old with reggae artist Maxine Miller from Jamaica. It was a remake of " Until you come back to me by Aretha Franklin". I continued to hon my craft always striving for excellence. Mr. Smart allowed me to manage the studio late evenings and overnight to keep up with the high demand for my Soca music production. Top Soca artist from Trinidad and Tobago were recording with me overnight at HC& F recording studio for the pre Carnival song production season. Its always very exciting preparing those songs for the Carnival competition.
My single entitled "Work' Performed by Denice Belfon with The Masters @ Work is still charting all over the world since its initial release in 1999.
Thanks to Denice Saucy Wow Belfon and the team in Trinidad & Tobago for this club banger.
